Even some Meiteis who reside in Mizoram have sought safety in Manipur.
    The demand by Mizoram’s civil society organizations to stage statewide protests today (July 25) in opposition to the violence inflicted on members of the Kuki, Hmar, Mizo, and Zomi communities in Manipur has alarmed and unnerved Meiteis. 
    Notably, the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ held on May 3 in opposition to the Meitei community’s quest for Scheduled Tribe designation served as the immediate catalyst for ethnic hostilities in Manipur.
    Source: Deccan Herald The Central and state governments must safeguard the safety of citizens, regardless of the community to which they belong because of the inter-state implications of the conflict. Manipur’s instability has the potential to spark unrest throughout the entire North-East, which has long been a hotspot of insurgency. The BJP-led Central Government has consistently asserted that over the previous nine years, the number of extremist attacks and casualties (including security personnel and civilians) has significantly decreased in the region. However, if the roaring flame is not put out as soon as possible, all of the excellent effort will be for nothing.
