One of the key players in Pakistan’s win over India was the 22-year-old pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi who took out three Indian star batters and became the man of the match. Shaheen was all set for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 game against India and to win the hearts of fans again. But the bad news follows for Pakistan as Shaheen is being ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup following an injury to the right knee ligament.

The PCB Medical Advisory Committee doctors have recommended 4-6 weeks of respite for Shaheen Shah Afridi in light of the most recent scans and findings. According to the Pakistan board of control, he is now ineligible to play in the ACC T20 Asia Cup and the home series against England.
I have spoken with Shaheen, and he is unhappy with the news, but he is a brave young man who has pledged to come back stronger to serve his country and team, the Chief Medical Officer Dr Najeebullah Soomro said. Although he has improved throughout his recovery in Rotterdam, it is now evident he will need more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October.
The player will be extensively monitored by PCB’s Sports & Exercise Medicine Department in the following weeks to ensure his safe return to competitive cricket for the T20 World Cup in November.
