On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that gangster Goldy Brar, who is thought to have planned the murder of musician Sidhu Moosewala, had been caught in the United States and would certainly be transported to India. This came after news reports claimed sources indicating that Brar had illegally entered the US from Canada and was being held in California.
He has been detained by California authorities. They have informed the Indian government and the Punjab Police of his detention. They’ve asked if he should be deported, Mann told reporters in Ahmedabad. We will absolutely repatriate Goldy Brar to India in accordance with the pact with America so that the families who have lost sons and daughters might get some peace. Brar was the major mastermind, and there are others whose records we have, he explained. We don’t have anything specific on the subject from the central agencies on the record or off the record, a senior police officer involved in the Moosewala killing inquiry said, declining to be identified.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was assassinated on May 29 in Punjab’s Mansa district. Brar, a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member, has claimed responsibility for the murder. Satinderjeet Singh aka Goldy Brar, from Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, visited Canada in 2017 on a student visa. He is reported to be a part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Brar has been issued a red corner notice, which allows for the arrest and custody of a fugitive abroad.
Brar is also thought to have played a key role in the plot to kill a Dera Sacha Sauda follower last month. We are discussing the matter at the international level in order to bring others here. They will be questioned, and additional information may be revealed… Goldy Brar would be in the hands of Punjab police very soon, Mann said.
Brar’s detention was welcomed by Moosewala father. Balkaur Singh, Moosewala’s father in Mansa, said he hadn’t heard anything official about what was going on. If that’s the case, Singh remarked.
On Thursday, Singh asked the Union government to offer a reward of Rs 2 crore for any information that leads to the arrest of Brar, a Canadian gangster. He even volunteered to cover the cost of the incentive out of his own wallet.
