As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav festivities, the gardens at the President’s official residence, Rashtrapati Bhavan, have been given a common name. Bulldozers were used to remove the outdated Mughal Gardens road sign and haul it away. Deputy Press Secretary to President Navika Gupta stated, On the occasion of the commemoration of 75 years of Independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the President of India has given a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as Amrit Udyan.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan has three gardens that were modeled by Persian and Mughal gardens. The garden which was modeled after a similar one in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir, came to be known as the Mughal Gardens by both the general public and the authorities. The gardens, however, are formally known as Mughal Gardens. Amrit Udyan, which covers 15 acres, is frequently referred to as the presidential palace’s heart.

The Amrit Udyan had only ever been accessible to the general public once a year, during the Udyan Utsav festival, which takes place in the months of February and March.
