An investigation of the occurrence has been mandated. It has been discovered that IIT-Roorkee has been auditing five buildings for fire hazards since April. On that matter, the institute has a lot of explaining to do. Unsettling information regarding the shortcomings in the fire-fighting infrastructure has come to light. The hospital block where the fire started has not yet received a renewal of its fire safety certificate, according to PGIMER.  It is an unacceptable oversight that only one of the 16 PGI buildings has a no-objection certificate from the Fire Department. The matter needs to be addressed by the authorities right away. It may be challenging to add contemporary fire-fighting systems while keeping the hospitals fully operational because a few of the PGI’s facilities are old. But that can’t be a justification for not modernising the safety measures.
