Reflecting on his preparation for the role, Siddiqui shared, “I worked really hard on this character after a long time. Before filming, I stayed with the transgender community to understand their lives and emotions. They see themselves as women, aspiring to feel complete. Keeping this in mind, I approached the role as if I was playing a female character”

He lived among the transgender community, adopting their mannerisms and understanding their daily struggles. “The makeup alone took three hours. As it progressed, I felt myself changing. I adopted a softness in my demeanor and even wore the same undergarments as a woman. I didn’t want to be Nawaz anymore; I wanted to truly become the character”
Playing such a complex character was not without its challenges. Siddiqui noted, “It was one of the most difficult characters I’ve ever played. The entire process, including the elaborate makeup, taught me so much about what female actors go through” Despite the difficulties, Siddiqui found the experience rewarding. “Portraying a transgender character is not just about acting; it’s about capturing the essence of their inner world. We undertook this role with the genuine intention of delving into their innermost feelings and experiences, and I believe that the effort was absolutely worthwhile”.
Haddi received rave reviews from both critics and audiences. The film, directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, features a stellar cast including Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun, and Saurabh Sachdeva. Siddiqui also opened up about the emotional toll the role took on him. “There was one particular scene that had a profound emotional impact on me. It was a silent moment where I’m in the office with Zeeshan, and there are no dialogues. In that moment, I enter as Haddi and I see Zeeshan, someone I deeply care about, and yet I can’t approach him due to the path of revenge I had to follow. That scene, in particular, had a deep emotional resonance for me”.
