According to the HC, the prosecution was unable to establish its case beyond a reasonable doubt. The decision has cast considerable doubt on the CBI investigation. A special CBI court in Ghaziabad had declared Koli guilty of murder, rape, kidnapping, and destruction of evidence of the murders based on the obvious evidence and his confession, while Pandher had been discovered to have been involved in immoral trafficking.
Nevertheless, the top investigation team was unable to compile a solid case against the pair.The victims’ families have every right to feel deceived by the administration of justice. Callousness permeated every aspect of the case from the beginning. Shivpal Yadav, a state cabinet official and the brother of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the then-chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, horrifyingly characterised the horrific killings as a minor incident.

Police did not take reports of multiple missing children seriously, and there was never a full investigation into any possible collusion between Pandher and some officers. The verdict of not guilty casts blame on the investigators and serves as a sobering reminder of how a faulty investigation can cause the awful truth to be lost.
