The chief minister of Maharashtra recently met with Sambhaji Bhide, also known as Bhide Guruji. Bhide is the founder of Shree Shiv Pratisthan Hindustan, which wants to spread the teachings of the famous Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his son Sambhaji Maharaj.
However, Sambhaji requested that a reporter apply bindi before answering her question. How can this possibly be justified? Can one tell someone what to wear and what not to wear?Isn’t this a violation of a person’s fundamental rights? Doesn’t it make a woman inferior to a man? Does it work the same way for men? Would Sambhaji ever request that a male put on a tilak, dhoti, or kurta in order to ask him a question?
So far, Maharashtra’s state commission for women has issued a notice to Sambhaji, stating that you refused to speak to a woman journalist because she did not wear a bindi on her forehead. The quality of a woman’s work distinguishes her.In the notice, MSCW Chairperson Rupali Chakankar stated, Your statement is like pulling down the honour and social status of women. However, the CM should condemn this act of sambhaji bhide so that this type of misogynist mentality does not receive any encouragement, either directly or indirectly.We live in modern India, and we can put up with this kind of pressure on any individual.
