Renowned sarod maestro Aashish Khan, a Grammy nominee and an icon of Indian classical music, passed away at the age of 84 in Los Angeles, USA, on November 15, 2024. The cause of death was complications related to diabetes and multi-organ failure, as confirmed by his half-brother, Alam Khan.

    Aashish Khan, a disciple of his illustrious grandfather Allauddin Khan, made significant contributions to Indian music. He collaborated with legendary sitarist Ravi Shankar and worked with global icons like The Beatles. His work extended to films, contributing to Satyajit Ray’s classics such as Jalsaghar and Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi.

    Khan was nominated for a Grammy in 2006 for his album Golden Strings of the Sarode. He also received the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and served as an adjunct professor at prominent institutions in California, promoting Indian classical music globally.
