India already has institutes partnered that allows students to complete their degree while partially studying in India.
    The move to u201cinternationaliseu201d education is a step to overhaul the countryu2019s heavily-regulated education sector to enable Indian students to obtain foreign qualifications at an affordable cost and make India an attractive global study destination. The move will also help overseas institutions to tap the nationu2019s young population.
    Image source- Study in UKWhile unveiling the draft norms on Thursday, UGC chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar said the foreign universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will need a nod from the UGC to set up their campuses in India.According to the draft, the local campus can decide on admission criteria for domestic and foreign students, fee structure, and scholarship. The institutions will also have the autonomy to recruit faculty and staff.He explained that universities who want to set up their campuses in India should be ranked within the top 500 of overall or subject-wise global rankings. Universities, who have secured subject-wise ranking, will be allowed to offer same subjects in their Indian campuses.This news brings hope in thousands of students awaiting to complete their dream of studying from their desired university.
