After Pakistan’s six-wicket defeat against India in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, skipper Fatima Sana cited the team’s batting performance as the main reason for the loss. According to Sana, Pakistan fell short by 10-15 runs, which left them at a disadvantage during the match. Despite the setback, she remained hopeful for better results in future matches. Sana contributed to the score with 13 runs off 8 balls, but overall, Pakistan’s top order struggled. Nida Dar (28 off 34) and Muneeba Ali (17 off 26) were the only notable scorers, as India’s bowlers dominated the game.

India’s bowlers, led by Arundhati Reddy with a remarkable 3-wicket haul, kept Pakistan’s batting lineup in check. Reddy’s figures of 3/19 in her four-over spell stifled Pakistan’s momentum. The Indian fielding, however, showed some weaknesses, with several missed catches that could have tightened their grip further on the match.

In reply, India chased down Pakistan’s target with ease, scoring 106/4 in 18.3 overs. Key contributions came from Shafali Verma (32 off 35) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (29 off 24), who led India to victory. The match ended with S Sajana hitting a boundary to seal the win for India after Kaur had to retire hurt due to a neck injury.
Despite the loss, Fatima Sana enjoyed playing against India and remains optimistic about the team’s prospects in upcoming matches
