While Ashwin has been an ever-consistent player for India in the whites, Kohli ended his 1205-day drought without a Test tonne to reach the triple-digit score in the drawn Ahmedabad Test against Australia. He racked up an impressive 186 runs in the first innings but fell short of the coveted double-hundred.
The only Indian batters currently ranked ahead of Kohli are teammates Rishabh Pant (ninth) and Rohit Sharma (tenth) in the Test batter rankings.
Axar Patel also had a standout series, particularly with the bat, moving up eight spots to 44th on the list of batters and moving up one spot to take the fourth spot overall on the list of all-rounders after amassing a staggering 264 runs over the course of the four games.
The main players for India in the series were Ashwin and Jadeja, with the former taking 25 wickets and the latter 22, respectively. But for some reason, Jadeja fell from eighth to ninth place in the list of Test bowlers.

The most recent rankings update included promotions for Australian cricketers as well. Usman Khawaja, the opening batsman, moved up two spots to take over seventh place among Test batters after scoring a series-high 333 runs.
All-rounder Cameron Green, who only played in the test against India in Ahmedabad, advanced 11 spots overall to take 26th place.
