In a recent interview, Mukesh Chhabra revealed that the casting process for “Ramayana” has been ongoing for the past two years. He shared that finding the right actor for Lakshman was particularly challenging, as many established actors were hesitant to take on a role that is often seen as secondary to Ram. However, Chhabra expressed his satisfaction with the final choice, hinting that a beloved television actor has been cast in the role.

Ranbir Kapoor’s involvement in the project was decided early on. Chhabra mentioned that director Nitesh Tiwari was certain about casting Ranbir as Lord Ram from the beginning. “Nitesh bhai had decided to cast Ranbir very early in the process, and once you watch the film, you’ll see why it’s such apt casting,” Chhabra said. He praised Ranbir’s acting skills, stating, “Nobody can beat Ranbir when it comes to acting… He’s very neutral about it. He doesn’t bother too much about hits and flops. All he’s concerned about is acting”.

The role of Lakshman, however, proved to be more elusive. Chhabra revealed that several actors turned down the role, possibly due to the perception that Ram and Lakshman must always be together, which could limit their individual screen time. Despite these challenges, Chhabra is confident in the actor they have chosen. “We’ve found a lovely actor for Lakshman. A lot of people auditioned for the role. But I’m very happy with the actor we’ve gone with; this is going to be his first film in Bollywood. It was the last role we cast. We’ve chosen a young actor who has worked a lot in television; he’s a lovely guy. We couldn’t have found a better Lakshman”.

The film’s cast also includes Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Yash as Raavan. The casting of these pivotal roles has been met with enthusiasm, as each actor brings a unique presence and talent to the film. Chhabra emphasized that the casting choices were made with great care to ensure that each character is portrayed authentically and powerfully.

The production of “Ramayana” is already underway, with reports suggesting that the film is being made on a massive budget of around ₹835 crore. This ambitious project aims to bring the epic tale to life with grandeur and authenticity, promising a visual spectacle that will captivate audiences. Recently, photos of Ranbir Kapoor with his archery instructor surfaced on social media, hinting at the actor’s dedication to preparing for his role as Lord Ram.

Fans are eagerly awaiting more updates on the film, especially the official announcement of the actor playing Lakshman. The anticipation continues to build as the film promises to be a landmark in Indian cinema, blending mythology with modern storytelling techniques.
