According to sources familiar with the matter, RIL is planning to transfer some of its key warehousing assets, which are currently owned by its retail arm, to the new InvIT. The assets include fulfillment centers and warehouses that support the company’s retail operations, including its e-commerce platform JioMart.
InvITs are investment vehicles that allow companies to raise funds from investors by selling units of ownership in their infrastructure assets. They have become increasingly popular in India as a way to monetize real estate and infrastructure holdings and raise capital for new projects.
Image source- ABPRIL is expected to use the proceeds from the InvIT to fund its expansion plans in the retail sector, which has been a key growth driver for the company in recent years. This includes investments in supply chain and logistics infrastructure, as well as expanding its e-commerce and digital payments offerings.
Overall, the move is likely to be seen as a positive development for RIL, as it will help the company realize value from its real estate holdings and access new sources of funding for growth. What do you think about this ? Share your views in the comments
