In the latest cricket news, former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has backed Rohit Sharma to perform well in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand. Bangar, who worked with the Indian team during their successful 2019 tour of Australia, said that Rohit’s experience and adaptability would be crucial in the high-pressure final.
Rohit Sharma, who has been in good form in recent times, has been named as the opener for the WTC final, alongside Shubman Gill. Rohit has a good record in Test cricket, having scored seven centuries and 12 fifties in 39 matches. However, he will be facing a tough challenge against a strong New Zealand bowling attack, led by Tim Southee and Trent Boult.
Sanjay Bangar, who was also a former Indian cricketer, said that Rohit has the ability to play both attacking and defensive innings, depending on the situation. He also praised Rohit’s leadership skills, saying that he has the experience of leading the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and can handle pressure well.
The WTC final is set to take place from June 18 to June 22 in Southampton, England. The Indian team is currently undergoing a two-week quarantine in Mumbai before departing for the UK.
