In the last two weeks, there have been reports of producer Firoz Nadiadwala visiting actor Akshay Kumar’s office several times to discuss the possibility of reviving three comedy franchises: Hera Pheri, Welcome, and Awara Pagal Deewana. According to sources, talks have stalled because Akshay Kumar was not convinced of the quality and vision of the sequel concepts.

After shooting for over a month, the film was halted in the middle for a variety of reasons. The sequel to Welcome was also attempted in 2015 as Welcome Back, starring John Abraham, but the film failed to live up to the original.Akshay withdraws from Awara Pagal Deewana and Welcome as well.Akshay Kumar already has a full schedule and is carefully selecting his future scripts.
