In addition to the fine, a police case has been registered against Barq under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003, which pertains to electricity theft and unauthorized use. His father, Mamlukur Rehman Barq, has also been booked for allegedly threatening officials during the inspection.
This development follows a broader anti-encroachment drive in Sambhal, during which authorities demolished steps leading to Barq’s residence as part of efforts to clear encroachments from public drains.
The imposition of the fine and the associated legal actions have attracted significant attention, highlighting concerns over electricity theft and the conduct of public officials.
