Sharad Pawar on backfoot, but not for long

Pawar becomes a man possessed when he is politically pressed. The BJP recruited Udayanraje Bhosale, a sitting NCP member and a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj descendant, in order to gain ground in NCP strongholds during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Bhosale and Shriniwas Patil were the BJP and NCP candidates in the Satara by-elections, respectively. One passionate speech by Pawar in the midst of a torrential downpour in the constituency went viral and defeated the hitherto unbeatable Bhosale.

Nearly no other politician in Maharashtra’s 288 assembly seats and 48 Lok Sabha constituencies has a stronger network or deeper awareness of the state’s political landscape. The best development so far in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections has been the establishment of INDIA, the Opposition alliance of 26 parties in Bengaluru. The newly formed Opposition alliance sent the correct signal at the right moment by choosing to have its next gathering in Mumbai. The opposition is taking the lead in batting.

They will be playing at known ground. They will be more dangerous with the support of the combined Opposition than the Siddaramaiah-Shivakumar combination, which wrecked havoc on the BJP in Karnataka.  Although the BJP may currently be in the lead in Maharashtra, things might swiftly change. The BJP high command’s inability to understand what the Marathi manoos are thinking is the problem.
