I will do my best to recover quickly. I hope we can win more champions in this competition. I wish all participants the best of luck, Mary reportedly told ANI.
Mary, who had to sit out of last year’s Birmingham Commonwealth Games after missing her knee injury, threw her left hand in the first few minutes of the opening round of the 48kg semi-final. I twisted my knee. Mary fell to the canvas while trying to dodge punches in the first round of the fight.
One of the greatest Indian athletes of all time, Mary is the most successful female boxer in the history of the world championships. She is the only female boxer to win a medal at each of the first seven World Championships and the only female boxer (male or female) to win eight World Championship medals.
She is the first Indian boxer to win a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and the first Indian boxer to win a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
She was the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal and the second overall for her country when she won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
