The match was won by India by 67 runs. Shami did that run-out, which I had no idea about because Shanaka was batting on 98. He batted brilliantly, but we can’t get him out that way. Not something that we thought of, hats off to him, he played really well, Rohit stated during the ceremony to present the awards to the winners of the match.
Former Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews and star batter Sanath Jayasuriya praised Rohit’s actions.
Hats off to @ImRo45 for withdrawing the appeal in spite of the fact that the law says so! Exhibiting excellent sportsmanship, Angelo Mathews wrote on Twitter.
Rohit Sharma’s sportsmanship for refusing to take the run out was the real winner. I raise my glass to you! Tweeted by Sanath Jayasuriya. India posted an impressive 373 for seven when asked to bat first, riding on Virat Kohli’s 73rd international century and the half-centuries of Rohit and Shubman Gill.

After losing half of their team for 161, Sri Lanka never got back in the game, but Shanaka’s fight knock (108 not out off 88 balls) stood out among the rubble.
