According to the Bench, the State bears primary responsibility for providing compensation to the victims and is entitled to recoup the sum from the noncompliant entities or individuals. Assistance in dog bite instances must be at least Rs 10,000 for each tooth mark. In cases where the skin has been removed, at least Rs 20,000 must be paid for every 0.2 centimetre of the wound.

    As stated explicitly, there is no evidence of a desire to solve the problem, even though injuries occur on a daily basis. The harsh realisation that denying the existence of an issue only makes a citizen’s suffering worse has to start a conversation at the highest level. There is a significant risk to public safety if the stray animal problem is not addressed.

    Work must be done to develop workable solutions. Committees have been requested to be established by the governments of Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab to decide on compensation within four months of the claims being submitted. The police have been given guidelines on how to handle complaints. 
    It has been attempted to enhance the grievance redressal system. Haryana has made the decision to provide aid in the amount of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh in the event that a dog bite or stray animal causes death or permanent disability. In order to solve the issue, community involvement must be the main focus.
