In a shocking turn of events, actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his roles in “Stree 2” and “Welcome,” was kidnapped and tortured for 12 hours after being lured under the pretext of attending an award show in Meerut. This incident comes just days after comedian Sunil Pal faced a similar ordeal.

Mushtaq Khan’s business partner, Shivam Yadav, revealed that the actor was invited to the event with flight tickets and an advance payment sent to his account. Upon landing in Delhi on November 20, Khan was picked up and driven to a secluded area near Bijnor, where he was held hostage by his kidnappers. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of one crore rupees but managed to take only Rs 2 lakh from Khan’s and his son’s bank accounts2.

Khan endured nearly 12 hours of torture before seizing an opportunity to escape. He heard the morning azaan and realized there was a mosque nearby. Taking advantage of the situation, Khan ran from the location and sought help from locals. With the assistance of the police, he made it back home safely. “Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shaken over what happened to him. However, he was always sure that he would file an FIR after he composed himself,” Shivam shared2.

The abduction bears eerie similarities to a recent incident involving comedian Sunil Pal, who was also duped into attending an event that led to his kidnapping. Pal was invited to Haridwar for a show, where he was kidnapped and asked for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. He managed to negotiate and pay Rs 7.5 lakh before being released3.

The incidents have raised concerns about a possible syndicate targeting celebrities under the guise of event invitations to extort money. Shivam added, “We had no clue about the case. After Mushtaq sir returned, we spoke about the incident with a few of our close friends. When Sunil’s case was highlighted in the media, they informed us about the same. It is shocking that two public figures from the industry had to go through a similar ordeal. We hope there is awareness and protection in the future for everyone”2.

Mushtaq Khan is expected to address the media in the coming days to share his full experience. The Bijnor Police have registered a case against unidentified individuals under Section 364A (kidnapping for ransom) of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita and formed multiple teams to locate the kidnappers and trace the vehicle involved.

As of now, Mushtaq Khan is said to be doing well, but the incident has left a lasting impact on him and his family. The industry and fans alike are rallying behind him, hoping for swift justice and increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
