Antil, who set a world record with a throw of 68.55 meters at the Tokyo Paralympics, has faced a challenging period of recovery. The back injury, which could have sidelined most athletes, has instead fueled his determination. “Injuries are a part of an athlete’s life,” says Antil. “What matters is how you handle them, mentally and physically. For me, it’s all about hard work, discipline, and staying positive.”

He describes the sacrifices he’s made: countless hours of physiotherapy, training in pain, and staying away from family and friends. “There were days I couldn’t sleep because of the pain,” he admits. “But every sleepless night is a step closer to my goal.”

Sumit’s journey is not just about physical endurance but also mental strength. His resilience is rooted in his love for the sport and his desire to inspire others. “Winning gold again is not just a personal goal,” he adds, “it’s about showing the world what a person with a disability can achieve.”

Despite his injury, Antil continues to train rigorously, maintaining a strict routine and pushing through limitations. His commitment to defending his Paralympic gold is unwavering. “I believe in hard work and perseverance,” he says. “My back may hurt, but my spirit doesn’t.”

Sumit Antil’s journey is a powerful reminder that true champions are made through adversity. With his eyes set on another gold, he embodies the spirit of an athlete who refuses to give up, no matter the odds.
