Why Has Bengaluru Made Such a Radical Move?
The response to the decision has been mixed, but let us first understand why the city decided to prohibit these organisations from providing auto services. The general public in Bengaluru has been filing numerous complaints, claiming that these apps charged exorbitant fares even for the shortest distances, despite fixed regulatory requirements in Bengaluru stating that the first 2 kilometres cost Rs.20 and subsequent kilometres cost Rs.15.
As stated by the Karnataka transport department, the taxi apps were clearly overcharging.
The Karnataka ministry of transport has made the decision and is sticking to its decision to shut down these apps’ auto taxi services.
    Will it have any impact?
To start with, the biggest losers would be Ola, Uber, and Rapido because they are in the direct line of fire.
Without an app, the general public in Bengaluru may have a difficult time hailing an auto. Still, the Karnataka government is said to be working on an auto aggregator app that will make it easier for riders to catch an auto.
