We need to encourage and support our athletes so that they can bring glory to the country on the world stage, said Prime Minister Modi.Under the Mission Olympics initiative, the government will provide funding for athlete training and development programs, infrastructure improvement, and sports science research. The initiative also includes a talent identification program to identify and nurture young athletes with the potential to represent India at the Olympics.Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that the initiative aims to create a culture of sports in the country.Our goal is not just to win medals but to create a culture of sports in the country where every child has access to quality training and facilities. We want to build a strong foundation for the future of Indian sports, said Thakur.
    The initiative has received praise from various quarters, with athletes and sports bodies expressing their support.This is a much-needed initiative that will go a long way in supporting Indian athletes. It is heartening to see the government’s commitment to sports, said PV Sindhu.
    The Mission Olympics initiative comes at a time when Indian athletes are performing exceptionally well on the world stage. At the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, India won seven medals, including one gold, two silvers, and four bronzes.
    With the launch of this initiative, the Indian government is hoping to build on this success and create a lasting legacy for Indian sports.
