The prize: India won the inaugural Under-19 World Cup trophy on January 29, defeating England in the final.
While Nooshin was looking for a break, she is now getting a taste of what it’s like to be a part of a team that became the first women’s team to win an ICC title, completing a well-deserved redemption arc.
In fact, Nooshin was the final Indian batter to be dismissed in the 2005 Women’s ODI World Cup final against Australia, which gave Australia their fifth of seven titles.
After landing in Mumbai, she flew to Ahmedabad, where the BCCI honored the team, before continuing on to Ranchi to represent the Railways in the ongoing Senior Women’s One-Day tournament.
After winning the championship, I told the team that it was just the beginning. Even some of the players are of the same mind. So it’s critical to get down to business right away, Nooshin explained.

Those who know Nooshin well credit her success to her dedication and hard work. She was destined to be a coach, says Vinod Sharma, who was the head coach of the Railways team she represented for a long time, her India teammate Punam Raut, and her long-time friend and teammate Mithali Raj.
Playing and coaching are two separate roles. This is a completely different profession, and I’m glad I realized that early in my life. I chose Chhattisgarh because I wanted to put myself to the test, particularly my patience.
Coaching requires patience and calmness because I had to get down on their level, explain things, and build a team, she added.
