    Ponniyin Selvan, a film by Mani Ratnam Release day is now closer to a week ahead. The advance ticket sales for the Tamil and Telugu languages of the movie started on Sunday, and within hours, the hype for the movie was visible. By Sunday afternoon, many seats have just about sold out, and the film already has passed one crore in advance booking of tickets.
    The movie made $1.46 crore after selling 78,000 reservations by midday.  Of this, just the Tamil language hauled in $1.37 crore, and the Telugu-dubbed version brought in about $9 lakh. Before Friday, the amount will undoubtedly surpass the 10-crore threshold, and if the buzz lingers, it may even increase significantly. This suggests that the movie might have a huge opening weekend. 
    Over the weekend, the movie’s advance reservations in the international market went on sale, and business is massive there too. The movie has already made over $3.25 crore ($400,000) in seat sales in the United States alone, and significant advance booking patterns are also being seen in Singapore.
