The student hub of India, Kota, registered a shocking three suicides on Monday. These are two distinct incidents.
The two students of the same pg accommodation were found dead in their respective rooms. The two students were from Bihar and had been living in the PG for around 6 months, said Kota Police Superintendent Keshav Singh Shekhawat. The students were from class 11 and came to Kota for the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam), which is an entrance exam for IITs in the country.According to reports, the students were 19 and 18. They both might have committed suicide in the night after having dinner, as per the reports.One of the boys was found dead in the morning, hanging from the ceiling fan. When the boy did not answer the knocks at his door in the morning, the owner of the PG became suspicious. The owner informed the police control and the door was forced open.The other boy also died the same way; his sister came in the afternoon to meet him, but he didnu2019t open the door, and the door was also opened forcefully. The boy also called his sister, according to the police, who checked their phones for more information.There was no suicide note found for any of the students. Both students were enrolled in a renowned private institute for their studies.The other incident took the life of a student who was from Madhya Pradesh. He came to Kota to prepare for the NEET examination, as told by the station house officer. The student had eaten poison and was lying in the PG grounds when one of the other students noticed him and reported him to the owner.The Rajasthan government announced plans to draught legislation to regulate coaching authorities.In 2018, 18 students died by suicide in Kota.
