Gupta is accused by US authorities of being involved in an aborted attempt to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, another US citizen who has been labeled as a terrorist by India, on behalf of an Indian government official. India is taking the situation very seriously and has already established a high-level committee to look into every facet of the case.

The US has provided information regarding the connection between organized criminals, gun-runners, and terrorists, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.Trudeau is incorrect to compare the Nijjar case to the US tragedy because Canada has not provided India with reliable evidence or filed a chargesheet. India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, made it apparent in a recent interview that New Delhi was merely requesting specific and relevant information so that we can help the Canadian investigators reach their conclusion.
Ironically, India is being advised to cooperate in the probe by a noncompliant Canada. Furthermore, Ottawa’s reliance on the US case is misguided because the prosecutors’ evidence against Gupta, the Indian official, appears to be weak and has only a shaky tie to the alleged hitman.
