To capture four or five cities with comparable fortifications, Russia will still require a significant military outlay. It is improbable that the West will accept the Russian advance as inevitable and might even escalate the conflict. 

    Here is President Vladimir Putin’s statement on the passing of Alexei Navalny, the final glimmer of Russian dissidence, and the Russian economy’s resilience in the face of Western sanctions. However, the West is still keen to arm Ukraine, so the battle is likely to continue. The West is proposing more and more that India serve as a mediator as the battle continues.

    As stated by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, India will gladly settle disputes but won’t initiate any of them on its own. India had recognized the West’s strategic intentions against Russia through the moral posturing it had adopted early in the conflict. 

    Since the outset, New Delhi has maintained that diplomacy and conversation should take precedence over violence as a solution. Essentially, India will be satisfied with a solution that takes into account the fears of Europe, Russia, and Ukraine rather than seeing one party lose. But in contrast to what the West believes, India has avoided taking sides and has instead taken a proactive neutral stance.

    It has fiercely defended its national interests, particularly those related to fertilisers, oil, and defence. In the impasse over the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhya, New Delhi effectively intervened. In order to prevent the conflict from spreading to the Indian Ocean and undermining its Act East policy, particularly with reference to China, India has also expressed a strong desire for it to be contained inside the European theatre.
