China said the joint military exercises is against the border agreement of 1993 and 1996 and is against the cross border spirit. The joint military exercise between India and the US close to the LAC at the China-India border violates the spirit of the agreement between China and India in 1993 and 1996, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a media briefing here.Reacting to this Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the joint exercises have nothing to do with the 1993 and 1996 agreements with China. Since these were raised by the Chinese side, let me emphasise that the Chinese side needs to reflect and think about its own breach of these agreements of 1993 and 1996. Also said India exercises with whomsoever it chooses to and we do not give veto to third countries on this issue.
I would point you to the comments by my Indian colleagues, that it’s none of their (China’s) business, said Elizabeth Jones, the US Charge d’ Affaires in India, in a roundtable with journalists on 2nd of December. Both India and USA is on the same side in this issue and are firmly rejecting China statement against the joint military exercises done in Uttarakhand.
