Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has opened up about the challenges he faced in his film career, attributing his struggles to being a victim of lobbying within the industry. Despite delivering several successful movies, Oberoi claimed he faced significant barriers that halted his career progression.

Oberoi, who was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s web series “Indian Police Force,” shared his thoughts in a recent interview with India News. He said, “I have been doing other businesses for a while now. There was a phase in my life where my movies were hit, performance was appreciated, yet for other reasons if you are not getting any role at all, when you become the victim of a system and lobby, you are left with just two options where you get all depressed or take it as a challenge and write your own destiny. I chose to walk on the latter path and ended up starting several businesses.”

The actor’s career took a downturn following a highly publicized feud with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in 2003. During a press conference, Oberoi accused Khan of threatening him, a claim that surfaced amid Oberoi’s relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai. The controversy significantly impacted his career, leading to a lack of film offers.
Reflecting on the past, Oberoi mentioned the unnecessary hardships he endured. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he remarked, “In hindsight, I went through a lot of stuff that was unnecessary.” He criticized the lobbying and negative stories within Bollywood, describing them as the industry’s darker aspects.
Oberoi’s father, veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, also spoke about his son’s resilience. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, he praised Vivek’s strength, saying, “It is his strength that he got through this. If it was someone else, they would have become an alcoholic or perhaps a drug addict. People were really against him. Media, and the people in the film industry, even the actors… sometimes when people get successful very quickly, others can’t take it.”
Despite these challenges, Vivek Oberoi has successfully ventured into the business world, demonstrating his ability to overcome adversity and forge a new path
