This would be consistent with the BJP’s tried-and-true strategy, which calls for a deliberate attempt to divide the electorate along religious lines. The young boy’s mother, who was arrested after he was spotted waving a revolver in a Ram Navami procession in West Bengal, has told the media that her son was a protester-for-hire who participated in all political processions and protests as long as he was paid to do so. She has expressed confusion over who gave her son a revolver, though. Someone had undoubtedly bused in skilled protesters from neighbouring states to make a statement in West Bengal.

The places that experienced violence were either TMC or BJP strongholds (Rishra in Serampur Lok Sabha seat) or areas where the BJP finished first in the 2019 general elections (Howrah and Dalkhola in Raiganj constituencies).
In Bihar, this tendency is more obvious. The two primary areas of conflict were Nalanda and Sasaram. In the seven Assembly districts that make up the Nalanda Lok Sabha constituency, which is a bastion of the Janata Dal (United), only Bihar Sharif was won by the BJP during its previous coalition with the JD.(U).
When panchayat elections are held in West Bengal during the next few months, test results might be available. Their findings would make clear the spheres of influence held by the major political parties, and they may serve as a launch pad for the general election the following year. 38,118 gram panchayats, 8,062 panchayat samitis, and 793 zila parishads were won by the TMC in 2018. With 5,779 gram panchayats, 769 panchayat samitis, and 22 zila parishads, the BJP came in a distant second. The BJP is anticipated to gain from the polarisation of the communities in the semi-rural and rural areas where the most recent violence took place.

The Sagardighi byelection outcome presented a challenge to both the TMC and the BJP since it demonstrated that the bipolar politics that both parties find advantageous may be overturned. By increasing her minority vote, Banerjee is able to keep the Left and the Congress out of the electoral picture and maintain a two-party system. Despite their public rants and reproaches, it appears that the BJP and TMC both stand to gain from maintaining the communal tension.
