The teaser of Kerala story with Adah Sharma telling her painful story. In the teaser, Adah wearing a burkha-clad woman says that her name was Shalini Unnikrishnan and she had wanted to become a nurse, but now she has forcibly converted to Islam and joined ISIS. Not only this there are 32000 more women like her going to the same situation.
But is the figure of 32000 true ? The film’s director said that he arrived at that number based on figures given to the Kerala assembly by former chief minister Oommen Chandy. Mr Sen(film director) claimed that Mr Chandy had said that every year approximately 2,800 to 3,200 girls were taking up Islam and so, it worked up to 32,000 in 10 years. In 2021, after the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, Indian officials said four women from Kerala who had joined the Islamic State were in jail there. One needs to check the records but our estimate is that there are not more than 10-15 women who have got converted and left to join the IS from Kerala since 2016, a police official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the BBC.The Observer Research Foundation, a prominent think tank, in 2019 published a document titled u2018The Islamic State in Indiau2019s Kerala: A primeru2018 where it mentions that The Indian Home Ministry puts the number at 155(including male and female) who are included in sharing or propagating IS propaganda online, attempting to travel to West Asia with the aim of joining the caliphate. So it is all clear that the number mention in the film is not true and it is clear case of misinformation. Till now lots of complaint and letter are written to central government to ban this film but BJP party workers are backing this film release. Now question is will this movie is going to get release even if there is clear evidence of the figure of 32000 as not true.Comment down your thoughts.
