India was under extreme pressure when Ashwin came in to bat, with the scoreboard reading 74/7. In the 34th over of India’s chase, Ashwin was given a major reprieve when Bangladesh’s Mominul Haque dropped his catch at short leg off the fourth ball of Mehidy’s over. Ashwin capitalised on a missed opportunity by Bangladesh to help India win the match without losing another wicket.
Following India’s thrilling victory, a cricket fan mocked Ashwin, reminding him of the dropped catch that allowed him to play a match-winning knock during India’s chase. With the victory, India completed a 2-0 series victory over the hosts. Cheteshwar Pujara was named Player of the Series after scoring 222 runs at a strike rate of 74.00 in two matches.
