The BJP has questioned why Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal needs 48 hours to submit his resignation in the event of his arrest. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia asked, “What is the secret behind Kejriwal requiring 48 hours to resign?” This comes after Kejriwal announced that he would step down within two days if the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrests him in connection with the liquor policy case.

Bhatia pointed out that other AAP leaders, such as Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia, had been arrested on corruption charges, implying that Kejriwal’s potential arrest is no different. He further accused Kejriwal of corruption and claimed the AAP government had failed to fulfill its promise of a clean administration.

In response, AAP leader Atishi explained that Kejriwal has always prioritized transparency and accountability. She stated that the 48-hour timeframe allows for the necessary administrative processes to be completed in the event of an arrest. Atishi also emphasized that the accusations against Kejriwal are politically motivated and part of the BJP’s strategy to undermine the AAP government.
She defended Kejriwal’s governance, citing his achievements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure development in Delhi. Atishi reiterated that the AAP government is confident that the allegations will not stand in court and that they will continue to work for the betterment of the people.
The ongoing liquor policy case has escalated tensions between the AAP and the BJP, with the latter accusing the former of widespread corruption, while AAP maintains that these accusations are a political vendetta aimed at destabilizing their government.
