India A is a platform that allows high-potential players to showcase their talent while also learning from the experience of playing against various international sides from around the world. Rinku, who has shown glimpses of his potential in the IPL over the last two years, has yet to play for India A.
While there is no denying that competition for places in Indian cricket is fierce, Rinku did not pass up the opportunity to play for India A. In fact, Rinku was named to the India A squad for an unofficial Test series against Sri Lanka A in 2019.
Rinku’s happiness, however, was short-lived, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended him for participating in an overseas T20 tournament without prior permission.
According to Wisden, the Uttar Pradesh-born Rinku played for the Deccan Gladiators in Abu Dhabi’s Ramadan T20 Cup, scoring 361 runs at an average of 51.57 and a strike rate of 176. While he was one of the league’s best players, he violated a BCCI rule by playing for the franchise, which resulted in his suspension.
The BCCI said in a statement at the time, Rinku Singh has been suspended with immediate effect for a period of three months beginning June 1, 2019. He has been dropped from the current India ‘A’ squad, which is set to face Sri Lanka ‘A’ on May 31, 2019.

The BCCI will not tolerate such violations in the future and will take strict action if a player is found to be in violation of BCCI rules and regulations. Rinku, on the other hand, learned his lesson and dedicated himself to Indian competitions in order to avoid a repeat of this scenario.
Rinku’s India A ambitions have been boosted by his experience in 40 First-Class games and heroics in the Indian Premier League.
