Why are the other faiths that have coexisted on our continent since time immemorial being perceived as under danger by a Hindu asserting his faith and identity in India?
India’s culture is weaved from its variety of languages, religions, dialects, and ways of life, all of which are founded on Indianism, whose foundation is Hinduism, much like the vibrant threads in a Banarasi saree. What distinguishes Hinduism as the kindest and most compassionate of all religions is its unique embrace of all faithsu2014a faith that does not label individuals who are not of its faith and accepts every other religion on its territory.

Those who are being politically pressured into thinking that the safety of Islam in India depends on the separation of believers and non-believers, either through attire, the imposition of Islamic practises, the demand of the Sharia, the establishment of ghettos, or the over-visualization of mosques, need to reevaluate their beliefs. When Islam respects and appreciates the Hindu culture, it would always be safe in India. It must also be aware that in a BJP-led India, a Hindu is no more afraid to voice his feelings as a Hindu, hence Hindu sentiments cannot be disregarded.
How many Muslims would choose to live somewhere else if given the chance? How many Hindus would leave this country if they believed that the Islamization of India will eventually alter its cultural identity? We must accept India as it is, which is primarily Hindu, essentially multicultural, and intensely personal. All religions will coexist here, possibly occasionally as nice, occasionally as evil, and rarely as nasty. Indians are not stupid people. We understand how to keep politics distinct from everyday life deep down. Nothing should ever lead us to believe that any of us would ever be able to let go of this India, which is ours.
